From Hype to Habit: Conquering AI Adoption at Zoox

Most organizations have purchased AI developer tools. Most are disappointed with adoption. The problem usually isn't the tool, it's that we treat AI adoption like a software rollout when it's actually a behavior change problem. This talk draws on lessons from leading Developer Experience for 1,500+ engineers at Zoox, where the mandate wasn't just to provide AI tools but to make them stick. You'll hear a candid framework for diagnosing why adoption stalls, how to build internal feedback loops that surface real friction, and how engineering leaders, not just platform teams, are the critical lever in whether AI becomes a habit or a shelfware subscription.
